My First Time at WPPI!

I flew into Las Vegas on Sunday for the WPPI Wedding & Portrait Photography conference and expo. It’s a week long event filled with lots of informative exhibitions and keynote speakers from world renown photographers coming from every part of the globe. To be surrounded by such levels of greatness of those who are continuing to master their craft has been a very humbling and inspirational experience. I love that there are others who love to teach and impart their own wisdom and knowledge that they have gained through their human experience of practicing this art. It’s encouraging to know …

Nepal Earthquake Response

I just wanted to let you guys know that I applied to be a part of the Nepal Earthquake Response team in August 23rd – September 1st. With other 80 million people affected and over 2.8 million people displaced, they need a lot of help right now with the clean up, distributing water andfood supplies.  I’m compelled to go because I feel like there’s more to life than just living in my American bubble and I also believe that the greatest mission is not about what you can take from life but what we can add back to life in the form of serving and helping others in their times …

It happens in a blink

Even time has wings. It will pass and fly by you even when you think you are trying to appreciate life. The fleeting sunset always reminds me of the impermanence of the things around me. The beauty of life has a beginning and and end. Enjoy every breath while you still have ‘today’ in your hands.

Riding on Elephants

Stumbled upon these photos from my mission trip to Thailand with some friends from ROLCC (River of Life Christian Church) this past summer. We got to ride on elephants through a local village where they took care of the elephants. It’s quite different seeing things from up above and to treat these areas as an form of entertainment but I wonder what it’s like to live there in these places. How humbling of an experience it was (even though I was elevated on the back of an elephant) to ride through this small village. It just made me remember how …

Heaven’s gain

Just got word from my sister back home that a good friend of mine from Alabama passed away. Oh man…I never thought I would lose so many people in this lifetime… this early in my life. I don’t know why I couldn’t sleep this morning only to get up and hear about this. As the tears stream down my face I also find God reminding me of the impact and the goodness I have been so blessed to experience by the presence of another person, someone who I called a brother. “Timothy, we went through so much together. Only you …

Fly

I saw this little girl playing on the rocks at Anne & James‘ wedding. The girl featured is James’ younger sister. I saw them dancing near the rocks  and during one of their breaks I observed her climb and balance herself on the the rocks. I told her, “Fly!” and this is what she wanted to show me. What is it about children that make them feel and behave so freely? What can we learn from them? What have we lost as adults? Have we lost our child like spirit? When I saw this little girl, I was reminded to …
